Learn Salah – Namaz Step by Step

Salah (Muslim Prayer) is a condition that completes our belief. Without it, a Muslim is devoid of faith. Learning Salah /Namaz is the basis of Islam. It helps us understand our relation with our Lord. As a result, we get to know about life’s purpose and help us accept the facts of this world and the next one, which otherwise we find difficult to accept.

“Indeed, I am Allah. There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance.” (20:14)

Just as we have physical needs, similarly our soul has spiritual needs too. In order to satisfy our soul, we have to remember Allah. The act of worship that is of most significance is Salah. Without spiritually nourishing our soul, our system shall not function properly. The importance of Salah, one of the essential pillars of Islam cannot be understated.

Why Perform Salah?

Salah is the most significant act of worship that all Muslims must follow. Muslims should not take Salah for granted because it is an obligation. Quran greatly emphasizes on prayer and pays great importance to its performance. We should perform prayer because it benefits us in the following ways;

  1. Helps Invoke Allah

Through Salah, we invoke Allah. It is through the medium of prayer that we are able to build a connection with Allah. Also, it is through prayer , that we are able to invoke Allah. There is great significance of making Dua (invocation) after obligatory prayers.

Therefore we must pray and consequently must make Dua after each Salah. We can ask Allah to help and guide us towards the straight path. Therefore prayer is essential for Muslims as they need the support of Allah in this life. It is through prayer that we can ask Allah to take us out from adversity and protect us.

  1. Leads towards Righteousness

Our prime concern in this world is to achieve piety and righteousness. We have been created to become upright and virtuous. Therefore Salah plays a significant role in drawing us towards Allah and by doing so; we inherently become God fearing and pious. Muslims should perform prayer so that they can move towards piety and godliness.

  1. Rewards us with immense Benefits

We are answerable for all our deeds, whether good or bad. Most importantly, in the next life, before Allah. The rewards in the next life for the one who prays are beyond our imagination;

“Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds and establish prayer and give zakah will have their reward with their Lord and there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.” (2:277)

The rewards of Prayer are not restricted to this world; rather they shall surpass this material world.

  1. Helps us Stay Connected to Allah

We should develop a relation with our Lord; our Sole Creator. We can only retain this bond, if we stay connected to our Lord. Salah is the medium that can help us achieve that bond. When a Muslim prays five times a day, they are able to establish that bond more strongly, because they are in continuous contact with their Lord five times each day.

  1. Protects you from Shaitan

Shaitan aims to deviate Muslims from Allah’s path. He intends to take Muslims from lightness into the darkness. We need to be aware of the tactics of Shaitan and refrain ourselves from letting him deviate us.

“Satan only wants to cause between you animosity and hatred through intoxicants and gambling and to avert you from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer. So will you not desist?” (5:91)

Therefore, we can say that by not offering prayer we are giving in ourself to Shaitan. By offering prayer , we resist the temptation of Shaitan.
