The Islamic Perspective of Coronavirus

Coronavirus is something that we are all aware of. That is to say, it is spreading rapidly throughout the world. Further people are being advised not to go in public and gatherings. Moreover, the people who had planned to go for Umrah have also been stopped. As a result, these things lead to fear and stress. Therefore coronavirus is affecting the lives of millions today. Further, it is resulting in deaths.

Certainly, this leads to a number of thoughts in the mind of the Muslims. Therefore in this article, we shall discuss a few points that Muslims should remember when they witness difficult times.

Coronavirus; a Trial

Certainly, we face trials and tribulations in this world. Further, Allah has informed us about it that we shall certainly be tested. So, because of these tests, we remember Allah and realize that He is the Sole Master of this world. Moreover, if He wills, He will provide us help.

“Or think you that you will enter Paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said, “When (will come) the Help of Allah?” Yes! Certainly, the Help of Allah is near!”

(2:214)

Be Patient during Coronavirus Testing Times

We need to understand and realize the fact that Allah sends us tests because He wants to see how we react. That is to say, He certainly observes how patient we are in our tests and tribulations. Therefore through this test of Coronavirus that we are facing, we need to be patient because that is what Allah expects from us. For example, if our dear ones fall sick, we should be patient instead of going into a state of panic.

“And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient.”

(2:155)

Therefore a Muslim must be patient in their testing times. Further, we should also keep in mind that Allah is with us in testing times and that He shall not let us pass through any test without His help and support.

These illnesses and calamities are not something new. Further, the fact that people get ill is also not something new as well. That is to say, there have been calamities in the past. For example, we certainly have the instance of Hazrat Ayub (A.S.) before us. He was faced with the severest of afflictions. That is to say, he lost his wealth, health and family. Further, we can gain example from his ways. In other words, he very patiently bore his illness and loss and did not lose hope in the mercy of Allah.

And Ayyûb, (Job) as he called out to his Lord, (saying), “Adversity has touched me, and You are The Most Merciful of the merciful.”       (21:83)
