What does Barakah mean?
Quite often we hear the term Barakah. We all seek and want Barakah from our lord. But what really is Barakah? The word in English translation for Barakah is blessings. But, this English word does not do justice to the actual meaning of Barakah. That is to say, this grand and spiritual term has a way broader meaning than just that.
There’s no denying that Barakah does mean the blessings of Allah in all aspects of life. That is to say, it is a powerful blessing from Allah to mankind. Further, it is a constant spiritual presence that Allah bestows man with. This presence elevates the status of man and guides them towards the right path. Moreover, it becomes a source of success for man in this world and the hereafter. That is to say, man, gains immense success in this world through an unseen and unheard power. That power is from Allah and it is constant for those who are pure and worthy.

Gaining Barakah at Work
Work is an essential part of our lives. That is to say, there are situations in which we spend more time at our workplace than our homes. We have an unending relation with Allah that must not get affected by any place or people that we are in/with. Therefore, we need to maintain our bond with Allah no matter wherever we are. In other words, Barakah can be achieved by not letting our relation with Allah get affected because of our worldly affairs. A few tips have been mentioned below through which we can succeed in gaining Barakah at our workplace.
1. Gain Barakah by Setting Your Intentions Right
The first thing that we need to be aware of is our intentions. That is to say, we need to know and realize what our intentions are behind our work. In other words, our intentions directly affect our work and its credibility. Therefore, we must make it a habit to set our intentions right before beginning to work on any project. Certainly, we are only able to reach the conclusion that we are bound to perform job tasks.
But, try to dig deeper and realize what more is it to it than just fulfilling your duty because you are liable to it. However, think out of the box next time and determine the benefits of your work for the company. Further, analyze your responsibility and duty towards Allah. He has always commanded us to be just and fair in our dealings with people. As a result, we shall be able to perform our job duties more profoundly and fairly. Therefore we need to set our intentions right. Moreover, we need to analyze them frequently.
2. Purity is essential in acquiring Barakah
Islam has given great significance to ablution. That is to say, the one who constantly remains in a state of ablution receives direct blessings from Allah. We must make it a regular practice to perform ablution before going to work or before performing any task in life. However, people may argue what ablution has to do with our work. But, being in a constant state of ablution brings Barakah to our work because we are in a pure state. There is no harm in considering our work as a part of our worship because by being sincere to our work and polite to our work fellows we are pleasing Allah. Therefore, ablution helps you remain purified and purity helps you attain Barakah.
3. Prayer; the Prerequisite of Barakah
We can certainly not understate the value of Salah (prayer). It is the only rope of Allah that we can hold on to till the end of times. Consequently, we need to perform our Salah (prayers) even at the workplace, because there is no exemption from performing Salah. Moreover, we must be thankful to Allah for the success that He gifts us with. In addition, we must remember Him and seek His blessings before undertaking an important work assignment, before a meeting or even after the completion of a successful task. That is to say, we must seek guidance from Allah no matter where we are in life and in what situation. As a result, we shall be able to gain Barakah.
In the same vein, Quran has equal importance in helping us gain Barakah. However, with today’s busy work schedule, we lack the time to remember Allah and build a connection with Him. QuraOnline understands your busy schedule and provides online classes for you. Further, these classes can be set based on your convenience. That is to say, QuraOnline provides flexible timings. As a result, you can choose the timings and days that best suit you. It imparts Quranic classes. It offers the Quranic courses, for example, Quran Translation, Quran Tafseer, Noorani Qaida for beginners, Quran Reading with Tajweed, Quran Memorization, etc. By understanding the Quran, we shall be able to gain Barakah in all aspects of life, including work, because Quran has the ability to transform us entirely and bring light and Barakah into our life.
O mankind, there has come to you a conclusive proof from your Lord, and We have sent down to you a clear light (4:174)
And this [Qur’an] is a Book We have revealed [which is] blessed (6:155)
4. Make Dua (Supplication) to Gain Barakaah
We ignore the importance of supplication. That is to say, we mostly bow our heads before Allah and seek His help only in times of need. However, we must seek His blessings and supplicate to Him in all aspects and phases of life. In other words, we must ask Allah to bestow His blessings in our work and to support us in whatever we do. As a result, we shall be able to add spiritual meaning to our work. Consequently, it shall include Allah’s blessings and eventually lead us towards the path of Barakah.
Conclusion
Barakah is a continuous process of enlightenment from Allah. In other words, it is something that is stable and which does not falter. For example, it is not like an economy or fashion that rises and declines, rather it is constant. Whoever receives the Barakah is blessed and fortunate. Moreover, once received, Barakah must not be lost because reaching that state, where Allah bestows you with such honor, is not common.
That is the bounty of Allah, which He gives to whom He wills (62:4)
