How can we have an Ideal Life influenced by the Life of the Prophet (P.B.U.H.)
The life of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is the most influential and fascinating life of all the significant figures in the history of Islam. Moreover, the prophet is one of the most powerful personalities by Michael H. Hart in his book The 100: A Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History. That is to say, the life of the prophet (peace be upon him) was and is not just popular among Muslims. In fact, he is one of the greatest instances of humanity and a figure of divine and strong aura for the entire world.
“He was the only man in history who was supremely successful
on both the religious and secular level.”
–Michael H. Hart
The life of the Prophet is recorded minutely because it is influential and exemplary. That is to say, he was the last Prophet and a bearer and protector of Allah’s Final Word. Therefore it was mandatory for us to follow the life of the prophet. In other words, there was no other figure for Muslims to follow. He is the only one who delivered the message of Allah to His people. Hence, we can well imagine the significance of the life of the prophet for Muslims. That is to say, he is the only one, Muslims can hold on to in difficult and perplex worldly situations.
“And indeed, you (O Muhammad) are of a great moral character.” (68:4)
Daily Life of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)
This article highlights the daily ways of the Prophet (peace be upon him). As a result, we shall not be able to appreciate his personality, discipline, and lifestyle, but also help us follow his footsteps. Hence we shall be able to lead our lives in the best possible way by following his ways.
Morning Routine of the life of Prophet (peace be upon him)
The life of Prophet (peace be upon him) began with the dawn. That is to say, the secret to success is to wake up early. Similarly, that is what our Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) realized and followed. He woke up before the Fajr Salah (Morning Prayer) and prayed in the last hour of the Night. In other words, it is the time of the morning that energizes and motivates us to lead the entire day. Subsequently, he showed his gratitude and love to Allah. Moreover, he understood the significance of the life after death and how the bond of Allah should be strengthened by leaving our cozy and comfortable beds for Him.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) entered his home and mosque with his right foot. Subsequently, he left with left foot out first. Further, he recited supplications for each and every step that he took in life. For example, he recited the Morning Prayer, prayer to enter the washroom, Ablution prayers, etc. as a result, these prayers helped him remember Allah throughout the day. Further, it keeps one aware that this worldly life has no significance. Moreover, we gradually master the art of attaining the feeling of detachment while still being present in this world and fulfilling our worldly duties and responsibilities.
Life of Prophet during the day
It was a necessary element of the life of the prophet to offer two Rakahs of Salah (units of prayers). Subsequently, he would remain in the mosque for some time along with his companions. In short, people would visit the Prophet (peace be upon him) at this time of the day. That is to say if they had questions regarding Allah and His religion or if they wanted to spend time with the Prophet (peace be upon him), they would do so during these hours. In other words, the Prophet (peace be upon him) guided the inquisitive and passionate Muslims of that time through the direct guidance that he received from Allah. Further, the Prophet resolved social and political issues.
The Prophet also visited his relatives and sick and needy Muslims during the morning hours. For example, he would visit his daughter, play with his grandsons whom he was really fond of, and visit the house of the deceased and comfort them. He further used to visit the Madinah bazaars to be aware of the problems of people and the way they were treated.
After returning to his house, he would say Salam while entering the house and ate food if there was any in the house. Most importantly, he would perform his daily chores. We have a great lesson from this. We become lazy in life and are dependent on others. However, the Prophet (peace be upon him) performed all his tasks himself and was not a burden on his wives. Although they would have loved to do his daily chores, he did not allow them to do. In fact, he would lend a helping hand to his wives, repairing his clothes and mending his shoes, milk the goat, etc. Moreover, because he was the best husband to his wives, therefore he would spend quality time with them. He would sit them, talk to them cheerfully and laugh with them.
Life of the Prophet during Evening
After performing the Maghrib Salah, he would return to his home for dinner. Therefore, the prophet did not spend long hours of talk for sermon after Maghrib Salah. If he had enough food to eat, he would invite his friends and family for dinner. Further, there were days when he only had dates and water for dinner. Moreover, there were also days when he would not have anything at all to eat. Subsequently, days passed without any food at all in the Prophet’s house.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) ate his food on the floor. That is to say, there was no dinner table in his house. He preferred eating food, sitting on the floor. He would always begin eating his food with the name of Allah and thanked Him after finishing the meal. Further, he would always eat with his right hand and from three fingers (Thumb, index finger and middle finger).
If he was eating with one of his wives, he would feed them with his hands. Further, he would eat from the same plate and drink from the same cup as his wife. The Prophet slept on his right side and recited supplications before sleeping.
Subsequently, he would wake up in the last part of the night, as mentioned above. He was so immersed in remembering Allah. He would devotedly worship and call Him. That is to say, he would not care about sleeping again and in fact prayed calmly and peacefully with all his attention.
Conclusion
By deeply studying the life of the Prophet (peace be upon him), we can make our lives influential and motivating. Most importantly, the Prophet (peace be upon him) was a perfect human being. That is to say, his everyday dealings with people teach us how we need to deal with people around us. Further, his daily routine guides us to lead a life in a better and more enhanced way.
