5 Motivations for the Entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurship requires effort and hardship. The journey of an entrepreneur is filled with turmoil. However, we need to figure out the ways that help entrepreneurs stay focused and motivated. Although, it seems quite simple when we talk about it, but to keep going in testing times, entrepreneurs need strong character and steadfast willpower.

“You have to see failure as the beginning and the middle, but never entertain it as the end.”

–Jessica Herrin

Emerging entrepreneurs must be aware of these hardships and difficult times. That is to say, there are times when entrepreneurs are on a role. In other words, the entrepreneur’s motivation is at its peak and it tremendously affects their work and its progress.

On the other hand, things seem bleak and dark because continuous ups and downs are part of a business. Subsequently, entrepreneurs encounter major stumbling blocks. In addition, these blocks have the potential to sink entrepreneurs into despair. Consequently, they can feel less eager to work. However, entrepreneurs must not falter and should keep going as Winston Churchill says even “if you are going through hell, keep going” in business.

Follow the following tips to stay motivated in testing times.

1. Entrepreneurs should seek Allah’s Help & Remember Him

Earning Halal Rizq is a practice liked by Allah immensely. In other words, entrepreneurs strive to run their business to feed their family and provide them with shelter. Moreover, entrepreneurs might also be working to help their parents. In addition, the entrepreneurs might have greater goals, for instance, serving the community. In other words, if the business does really well, entrepreneurs can help humanity for a larger purpose.

This, however, shall increase their risq (sustenance) more as Allah has promised,

“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.” (2:261)

Having said that, it is essential for entrepreneurs to get their motivation from Allah; their Sole Creator. Therefore, they must follow His teachings and commandments. Due to the entrepreneur’s busy life and schedule, unfortunately, it becomes difficult for them to gain Quranic knowledge by joining any academy. Therefore, a useful recommendation for entrepreneurs is to join Online Quran Classes. Consequently, it shall not only save their time but will be means to encourage them immensely.

2. Entrepreneurs must Keep Inspiring Company

People who surround us have a huge role in impacting us. Similarly, the positive people around us help us in our entrepreneurship journey. With time to time, consider people that you hang around with. Moreover, reflect if they really create a difference in your business life or not? Further, are they optimistic or does their positivity influence you? Or are they a reason to pull you down? Are they sincere to you and supportive? Or are they not supportive of your dreams and discourage you whenever they get the chance?

In short, we do not realize this generally, but the company we keep affects us immensely. Therefore, entrepreneurs must keep such company that encourages them. Similarly, entrepreneurs should make acquaintances with such people who are like-minded and inspirational.

3. Entrepreneurs should focus on their goals

Entrepreneurs should think about their success and the bright future that awaits them. It is a simple technique to keep the entrepreneurs motivated. They should imagine their ultimate business goals frequently. To clarify, we cannot underestimate the power of imagination. Imagination boosts the entrepreneur’s morale.

We can imagine the business dream whenever we want to, for example, we must visualize it at least once a day. Further, it is advisable if it is in the morning hours because at that time the mind is fresh and has the potential to absorb things positively. Moreover, it will detect the areas that demand motivations and focus. It will remind you of your business goals and consequently will positively impact you.

4. Entrepreneur should Create a Plan

Planning is essential for everything that we do in our life. Consequently, it is essential to chalk out the business plan, for example, pen down your long and short term goals, required budget and expenses and the research entrepreneurs need to do in the market. The benefit of creating a mind map is that it will be based on the entrepreneurs’ needs. As a result, when entrepreneurs shall fulfill a goal, they can mark it. Consequently, this helps create contentment and satisfaction among entrepreneurs. Because entrepreneurs shall be able to see their progress visually, therefore it shall give them a sense of accomplishment.

However, there are times when people lose hope and motivation after just taking a few steps. In other words, due to the lack of planning, entrepreneurs lose interest in their business. Without any sense of direction, it becomes difficult to remain organized. Consequently, we lose our direction and falter in our actions. Therefore, to stay focused and engaged, we must make a clear mind plan and act according to it.

5. Accept failure wholeheartedly

“I have not failed, I have just found 10,000 ways that won’t work”

–Thomas Edison

If entrepreneurs follow Edison’s way of viewing failure, their entrepreneurship journey shall become a lot easier. Failure is a part of one’s life. Therefore, entrepreneurs must not sink into despair. Accept failure because it is a natural part of the business. It is not wise to let failure overtake you, but it is imperative to notice what went wrong and which mistakes not to repeat again. Entrepreneurs should view these failures as part of their learning process.

Starting an entrepreneurship project is demanding. Generally, people do not realize the toil behind it. However, there shall surely be times when you shall feel discouraged. Consequently, you would want to abandon the efforts that you put into making your business successful and effective.

But, as we say, all good things come at a price. In other words, all good things happen with time and patience. They do not come easy. Similarly, entrepreneurship requires an unending effort. However, Allah has promised to help us in every worldly and spiritual matter.

Therefore, with His help, nothing in life seems impossible. Moreover, with His guidance, we never lose hope and see the loss in business as His test.

“And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to the patient.” (2:155)
